Our History

The Oak Village Women's Club was founded in 1984 with the purpose of providing a place where new residents to the community could come to meet and make new friends.  To this day, that is still the focus.  The Oak Village Women's Club is primarily a social club and is open for all women residing in the communities of Sugarmill Woods which covers Oak Village North and South, Southern Woods, Cypress Village, Royal Dalton House and
Deer Park Cottages.
.
We focus on having fun as well as supporting local charities including.....

Citrus County Food Bank:  Our club makes a monthly donation and asks our members
to donate nonperishable food donations to each meeting.  A volunteer member then delivers
our donations to the food bank.

Citrus County Education Foundation:  Each September we ask members to donate school
supplies that go to the free teacher store that benefit the students and teachers of
Citrus County.  We help to stock the store and stuff the bus!

Citrus Blessings:  We have a team of members who pack the blessing bags each
school month. These are weekend food bags handed out at Homosassa Elementary School.

Precious Paws:  Our club makes a monthly donation as well as asks our members to donate
cat and dog treats, food and toys at our October meeting and we have a guest speaker
about animals as well as a representative from Precious Paws who joins our luncheon.

Citrus County United Basket:  Each December we ask members to donate a new
unwrapped toy to give to our Citrus County children in need.

CASA, Citrus County Abuse Shelter Assocation, we ask members to donate at one of our monthly meetings items needed for abuse victims. We have a guest speaker from CASA.

Jesse's Place:  This is our biggest fundraiser!  Each November we have a member craft sale
and member donated basket auction where the proceeds go to help this Citrus County
children's advocacy center for neglected, abused and traumatized children.

We also have many activities to participate in!  Some of our activities normally include group outings such as kayaking, day trips to theme parks, theaters, and various restaurants.

Along with various activities, we have small groups that participate in bunco, book clubs,
garden club and more.  Our monthly luncheons are lots of fun with good food,
informative speakers and entertainment.

We conduct our monthly business luncheons from September through May.  Membership is
$20.00 annually and includes a directory.  If you are interested in more information,
please see our membership page (last tab on the website).

Our club's success is a testament to our generous women who participate and give throughout the year! We hope to see you at one of our luncheons in the future!

                            Maria Shriver reminds us...

“When the world is so complicated,
the single gift of friendship is within all of our hands.”

Welcome to Oak Village Women's Club!
